Breakthrough Starter vs Plus vs Elite: which plan fits?

Compare Breakthrough Starter, Plus, and Elite prices, monthly tool allowances, annual billing, and the publishing workflow each plan supports.

By Breakthrough PublishingPublished

Choose Starter if you mainly need unlimited Topic Research and a small monthly allocation of publishing-tool credits. Choose Plus if you want AI Coach, higher monthly credit additions, and two A+ Content credits each month. Choose Elite if you need one manuscript credit each month and unlimited runs of the Humanizer, Translator, Metadata Keywords, Ads Keywords, and Book Description tools. Unused finite credits roll over.

What does each Breakthrough plan cost?

PlanMonthly billingAnnual billingAnnual monthly equivalent
Starter$49/month$528/year$44/month
Plus$119/month$1,284/year$107/month
Elite$229/month$2,472/year$206/month

Annual plans are billed once annually. The monthly-equivalent figures are how the current pricing page presents annual pricing; they are not monthly installments. Applicable sales tax or VAT is added at checkout.

The software plans are separate from Breakthrough's 12-month coaching program and from done-for-you services. A Tools subscription does not enroll you in coaching or include separately ordered editing, formatting, cover, or book-production services.

Each metered tool run uses one credit from that tool's own balance. New credits are added monthly on the renewal day, and unused finite credits roll over. The finite numbers in the table are monthly additions, not caps on spending banked credits. “Unlimited” applies to the listed feature on the listed plan; it is not a claim that every feature or service is unlimited.

Who should choose Starter?

Starter fits a publisher whose main recurring need is topic research and who expects light use of production aids. It includes unlimited Topic Research and adds these tool credits each month:

  • 5 Humanizer credits;
  • 2 Translator credits;
  • 5 Metadata Keywords credits;
  • 5 Ads Keywords credits;
  • 5 Book Description credits.

It does not include AI Coach or monthly A+ Content or manuscript credits.

Choose it when those omissions are acceptable and your monthly workflow fits the allowances. For example, a publisher who writes independently and mainly wants to research book topics, refine occasional passages, and prepare metadata may find Starter sufficient. That is a fit example, not a result or savings claim.

Who should choose Plus?

Plus fits a publisher who wants guidance inside the software and uses the production tools more often. It adds AI Coach, raises the monthly Humanizer, Metadata Keywords, Ads Keywords, and Book Description allocations to 20 credits each, raises Translator to 10 credits, and adds 2 AI A+ Content credits per month.

It does not include monthly manuscript credits. If you already have your own writing process but want more help with decisions, descriptions, keywords, translation, prose revision, and Amazon A+ Content, Plus is the middle option.

AI Coach is publishing-question assistance based on the program's teaching. It is software support, not a one-to-one coaching call or enrollment in the 12-month coaching program.

Who should choose Elite?

Elite fits a publisher whose workflow calls for a manuscript draft and heavy repeat use of the supporting tools. It includes:

  • 1 AI manuscript credit added per month;
  • unlimited Humanizer runs;
  • unlimited Translator runs;
  • unlimited Metadata Keywords runs;
  • unlimited Ads Keywords runs;
  • unlimited Book Description runs;
  • AI Coach;
  • unlimited Topic Research;
  • 2 AI A+ Content credits added per month.

“One manuscript draft” means the Manuscript Writer can draft a full-length manuscript from an outline. The output still needs factual checks, editing, rights review, disclosure decisions, formatting, and production. Use the AI manuscript editing guide before treating any draft as publishable.

Elite adds one manuscript credit and two A+ credits per month. Those additions are finite, although banked credits can be used later.

How should you choose between the plans?

Use your real next 90 days, not an imagined future catalog.

  1. List the books actively in production. Exclude ideas with no committed schedule.
  2. Map the required tool runs. Estimate separate runs for manuscripts, descriptions, keyword sets, translations, A+ projects, and prose revisions.
  3. Identify the deciding feature. AI Coach, A+ Content, and manuscript drafting create clearer boundaries than small differences in usage.
  4. Compare monthly and annual cash flow. Annual billing has a lower displayed monthly equivalent but is charged once for the year.
  5. Include human review and services. Software output may still require editing, proofreading, custom formatting, cover work, or subject review.
  6. Choose for the current production system. The pricing page says you can upgrade or downgrade through the dashboard.

What do the tools do—and not do?

Topic Research uses filters, trends, and a topic checker to support demand decisions. It cannot guarantee future sales. Humanizer revises AI-drafted prose toward natural language; it is not plagiarism detection or fact verification. Translator can translate a whole manuscript, but fluent review remains sensible. Metadata Keywords suggests phrases for KDP's seven keyword fields, while Ads Keywords produces ideas for Amazon advertising; it does not run ads.

Book Description drafts listing copy. A+ Content creates or designs assets and modules, but does not guarantee Amazon approval or a sales increase. Manuscript Writer creates a draft from an outline, not a publication-ready or automatically published book.

This distinction matters when comparing value. Count the review, correction, and production work after each output.

What are the signup and cancellation terms?

To sign up, choose Starter, Plus, or Elite and a billing cycle on the public pricing page, enter an email, complete checkout, and create an account after payment. Existing users can sign in. No free plan or free trial is advertised there.

The public pricing FAQ says members can cancel at any time and upgrade or downgrade through the dashboard. It does not state that canceling an annual plan produces a prorated refund, so do not make that assumption. Review the live checkout and terms before purchasing.

Pick the lowest tier that covers the features and realistic run volume of your current workflow. A higher allowance only creates value when you have a defined use for it and a process for reviewing the output.
